We focus on reducing emissions into our natural environment. The significant reduction in water usage has been a major advancement in this area. We use solar energy to heat up to 2,000,000 litres (approximately 530,000 gallons) of water per week and where possible waste materials are recycled, sold for alternate uses or reused.
We reduce our carbon footprint by sea shipping raw materials and products globally rather than airfreighting. 1,000 kilograms of airfreight will on average emit 500 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometre, compared to 15 grams per kilometre on a modern container vessel by sea.
Our road and trucking policy aims to utilise every kilometre of travel for cartage. This means no empty trucks and efficient scheduling systems to ensure each trip is transporting raw materials or finished product to the docks for shipping.
