Alpaca fur is a soft and luxuriously silky natural fibre. Fibre by Auskin sources an exquisite range of alpaca fur and woven products, that are hand made by artisan families coming directly from South America. Alpacas are pasture raised in their natural habitat high in the Andes. They have to withstand extreme temperature fluctuations, therefore their fibres are extremely fine, soft, strong and naturally water repellent. The unique fibre structure results in products that are light weight, warm and beautifully soft to touch. Our range includes 100% woven baby alpaca throws, Suri alpaca fur cushions and Huacaya alpaca fur design rugs.
Fine and Soft
The smooth outer shaft of alpaca fibre is very fine, typically being 22 microns in diameter. This makes it a uniquely soft, luxurious and silky natural fibre.
Strong and Warm
The unique hollow core structure traps air within itself, providing excellent thermal properties.
Moisture Wicking
It is naturally water repellent and therefore does not become saturated when wet. Alpaca fibre does not contain lanolin and requires no special chemical or scouring agents to remove it during the tanning process.
Natural Colours
Alpaca fibre comes in a wide range of colours ranging from pure white through fawn, to a range of browns and true jet black.
